Two Slider pads change an exercise fundamentally: as soon as the foot or the hand glides, it has to be stabilised. The Slider workshop shows you what makes gliding work what it is, what you have to watch out for and how you build Slider sequences into very different class formats – from yoga and Pilates through to Toning, BBP and interval training. Alongside the exercise videos, two Masterclasses belong to the workshop.

What you will learn

  • What Slider pads are and how they are used
  • What advantages gliding work has over a static execution
  • What to watch out for in gliding work – surface, execution, safety
  • Slider exercises for yoga and Pilates
  • Slider exercises for Toning and BBP
  • Exercise variations with a focus on legs and glutes
  • Exercise variations with a focus on the trunk
  • Exercise variations with a focus on arms and shoulders
  • Two Masterclasses: sequences for a yoga or Pilates class and for a Body Toning or interval class

Who the workshop is for

For group fitness instructors who want to bring plenty of variety into their classes with very little equipment. Slider pads are small, inexpensive and quickly handed out – the workshop supplies the repertoire to go with them. Because the exercises are sorted by body region and additionally by class format, you can drop individual sequences into an existing lesson just as easily as you can build a whole class around the sliders. That applies to yoga and Pilates formats as much as to Toning, BBP or interval training.

How the workshop runs

  • After registering you receive your login details for the learning platform with all the materials and videos.
  • Self-study: the manual gives you the basic understanding – Slider pads, the benefits of gliding work and the points that matter.
  • Training videos: three videos show exercise variations by focus (legs and glutes, trunk, arms and shoulders). Practise the practical parts as often as you can.
  • Masterclasses: two further videos build Slider sequences into a yoga or Pilates class format and into a Body Toning or interval class.
  • Questions: write to info@update-akademie.ch at any time.
  • Completion: you fill in the feedback form and then receive your workshop confirmation by email.

The workshop runs online, without fixed dates and at your own pace. The content stays available to you after you finish, so you can look things up at any time while you are preparing a class.

Where it leads next

A second short format on small equipment is the Toning Workshop Tube and Miniband – the same idea, a different tool. Slider pads and other accessories for your classes can be found under Group Fitness Equipment. All the other short formats are listed in the overview of group fitness workshops, and the complete instructor routes under Group Fitness Trainings.
