The warm up has a large say in how a group class goes. This is where you draw your participants in, give the first instruction and set the tone for the rest of the lesson – and it is exactly here that many classes fall back into the same routine. The group fitness workshop Warm up Ideas first places the warm up within the structure of a class, together with the pre-instruction and the joint mobilisations, and then gives you fresh material for the opening in six training videos.
What you will learn
- Class structure in group fitness – where the warm up belongs in it
- Pre-instruction: how you draw the group in at the start and lead it
- Joint mobilisations as part of the opening
- The warm up itself: structure, purpose and design
- Six training videos with warm-up examples to copy and practise
- Ideas that you can carry over into all kinds of group classes
Who the workshop is for
For group fitness instructors of every format who want to freshen up the start of their classes. Because the workshop starts from class structure and not from a particular course format, the ideas can be used widely – whether you teach Toning, Step, yoga or a martial arts format. It is also useful if you are new to teaching and still lack a reliable structure for the opening of a class: pre-instruction, joint mobilisation and warm up in a comprehensible order. And if you have been teaching for years, the six video examples are simply new material for an opening you have run many times before.
How the workshop runs
- After registering you receive your login details for the learning platform with all the materials and videos.
- Self-study: you read through the manual on the Warm up Ideas – class structure, pre-instruction and joint mobilisations, warm up.
- Training videos: six videos show you warm-up ideas in practice. Practise the practical parts as often as you can.
- Questions: write to info@update-akademie.ch at any time.
- Completion: you fill in the feedback form and then receive your workshop confirmation by email.
The workshop is an online format without fixed dates: you start when you want and work at your own pace. The content stays available to you after you finish, so you can quickly pick up an idea before a class and try out a different opening from time to time.
Where it leads next
Class structure is the foundation of every group lesson – it is covered in depth in Group Fitness Fundamentals. If you then want to teach a particular format, you will find all the routes under Group Fitness Trainings. Further short formats on individual topics – from small equipment to new combinations – are listed in the overview of group fitness workshops.
