Every exercise you instruct acts on two systems at once: on the passive one made up of bones, joints, ligaments and tendons, and on the active one made up of the muscles. This workshop takes both systems apart and puts them back together. The central question is how these structures adapt to load, because that is exactly what every sensible piece of training planning builds on.

What you learn

  • The musculoskeletal system in overview: how the active and the passive system work together
  • The passive musculoskeletal system: bones, joints and the connective tissue structures
  • The active musculoskeletal system: how the muscles are built
  • The functions of the active musculoskeletal system
  • Adaptation to load: what training sets off in these structures
  • Special topic: the adaptation of bones and joints
  • Interactive learning video: the passive musculoskeletal system in depth
  • Interactive learning video: the active musculoskeletal system in depth

Who the workshop suits

The workshop suits fitness trainers, personal trainers and group fitness instructors who want to be able to explain, on the floor and in class, why a load has an effect and where its limits lie. It fits just as well if you want to refresh knowledge from an earlier qualification, or if you are preparing specifically for the topics of strength, mobility and load management.

How the workshop runs

After you register you receive the login details for the learning platform. There you will find the manual for the Musculoskeletal System workshop, the audio files for every chapter for learning on the move, and two interactive learning videos that go deeper into the passive and the active musculoskeletal system and show how the theory is applied. The workshop is free of fixed times and places: you learn online and at your own pace.

For technical questions you have two routes open to you: an email to info@update-akademie.ch or one of our online consultation sessions. The workshop is rounded off with an assessment in the specially developed examination tool. You can sit it whenever you like. Taking content one to one from AI output or internet sources leads to a fail. An expert marks your submission by hand and normally gets back to you within seven working days. You then receive your workshop confirmation.

Where things go from here

The content stays with you after you finish and can be called up again at any time. If you want to build the anatomical foundations underneath it up once more from the start, The Human Body is the place to begin. How what you have learned shows up in posture is taken further by Neutral Posture. All the other topics in the series are listed under Fitness workshops, and as a complete qualification the Fitness and Movement Trainer brings all of these building blocks together.

Frequently asked questions

Which topics does the musculoskeletal system workshop cover?

The workshop first works through the passive musculoskeletal system with bones, joints and the connective tissue structures and then the active one with the make-up and the functions of the musculature. A chapter of its own deals with adaptations to load. On top of that come two interactive learning videos, one on the passive and one on the active system.

Who is the musculoskeletal system workshop for?

It is aimed at trainers and instructors in the fitness and group fitness field who want to deepen their knowledge of muscles, bones and joints. Even if your own training was some time ago, the workshop is a compact way of having the foundations to hand again.

Is the content available to listen to as well?

Yes, there are audio files on the learning platform for every chapter of the manual. So you can listen to the theory on the move as well and then go deeper with the interactive learning videos.

How do I complete the workshop?

Through an assessment in the specially developed examination tool. It can be taken at any time, it is corrected by hand by an expert, and the feedback normally comes back within seven working days. After that you receive your workshop confirmation.
